The Two Epimachius and Alexander

As the persecution flares up in Alexandria during the ruling of Emperor Dicios (Dacuos), the judges were persuading the Christians and arrested Epimachius and Alexander who declared their confession and belief in the lORD JESUS CHRIST. They chained them and threw them to jail where they encouraged those who were in prison for the Sake of the NAME of the LORD JESUS CHRIST and strengthened their Christian Faith. They endured severe sufferings. They were subjected to beating , tearing their bodies with an iron hook and at the end they were thrown in fire and burned. The relics of St Epimachius were transferred from Alexandria to Roma according to the Roman tradition. An eye witness St Dionisios the Alexandrian wrote to us about the severe sufferings they were subjected together with four other female Martyrs who all got the Crown of the Martyrdom on the same day. The first Martyr called Ammonaria was brutally treated as she refused to repeat the blasphemy with the judge and finally she was beheaded. The second called Mercuria, whom the judge gave no attention to her old age or sex. The third Dionysia who happily presented her kids to the Martryrdom while encouraging them. The name of the fourth female Martyr was not mentioned. May the Blessings of their prayers Be with all of us AMEN. Reference: Butlerís Lives of Saints, Dec 12
